I get up and light a Parliament; walk into the office. I open the window, push up the screen, step up on the sill, and lean everything above the waist outside.

I nailed a belt across the frame a couple of days ago. Popped out the upper portion of glass. Leaning out the window, six floors up, I’m flying. I have to fight to keep my eyes from rolling back in my head—acrophobia. Whitney said that I need to get over my fear of heights. And she knew just what to do. She called it “flooding.” Apparently, if someone is scared of snakes, you put them in a box with a hundred snakes. Tell them, “breathe, breathe, just breathe.” If someone is scared of commitment, you shack ’em up with the only person they will ever love. I still don’t see what’s irrational about a fear of heights, but Whitney said that I need to get over it. So—I’m getting over it.
